after dark

You get the tickets. We've got the plan.

The event: Discombobulate is new party crew Glide & Swerve Inc's first attack on the SAR. And it promises to be a wildly entertaining debut with 'the Cirque de Soleil of Hong Kong' in the house. Flame-throwers, contortionists and various other hair-raising acts will take care of the visuals while DJs Mick Hart, Thierry, Banshee and Filthy Filth do their stuff on the decks. All the action takes place at new venue Skitz.

Be warned: forget the tunic and knee-high socks - this is no school dance. The more flesh on display the better, with an 'Ultra Ego' dress code. Now here's an occasion those dare-to-bare-your-backside U-shorts might come in handy.

Advance tickets $150, available from HMV, Skitz or directly from Glide & Swerve Inc. Tel: 2251 8260 or 9886 1500. Door price $200. All tickets include two free drinks. 10pm-late. Skitz, 18 Jubilee Centre, entrance on the corner of Gloucester Road and Fenwick Street, Wan Chai. Info: www.glideandswerve.com

Pre-party dinner: If you're going to throw on your finery and join the beautiful set for the evening (come on, pump that ego), you may not want to distend the stomach with anything as superfluous as food. Sustenance, however, is crucial if you're going to get off the sofa and consider dancing. Not far from Skitz is another hang-out for beautiful people: the super-cool Kokage, where you can choose from a large selection of alternative Japanese appetisers such as sea bream sashimi with pink peppercorns, sour citrus fruit yuzu and mountain lime vinaigrette ($168) or the pupu box (a sample of hot and cold dishes, $380 for two). It's not cheap but, then again, you'll only be eating a few morsels.

After-party: If you've had enough by dawn and have worked up an appetite, the Wharney Hotel (57-73 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, tel: 2861 1000) is just around the corner and it does a decent breakfast buffet from 6.30am-10.30am for $65 per person.
