British-raised Asian violinist Vanessa-Mae has confirmed she will play in Hong Kong on September 19 as part of an Asian tour to promote her new Best Of album. A new track, The Art Of War, is also featured on the album. The track is an edgy play on Sergei Prokofiev's famous Montagues and Capulets marching theme from his ballet Romeo And Juliet.
As much as she tries to project a serious image, Vanessa-Mae (below) will always be known for that wet, white dress she wore while standing in the sea for the cover of her debut album, The Violin Player.
It will be the violinist's first performance in Hong Kong since the handover ceremony on June 30, 1997, a night when virtually everyone got as wet as she was on that cover. The venue has not been finalised. After Hong Kong, she will play in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
