Mike Myers has found a winning formula, and he's obviously determined to ride it for as long as he can. For this, the third in his Austin Powers series, he relies on the tried and the true: a bunch of celebrity cameos, jokes coming at you in an endless stream and the limits of bad taste pushed to their extreme. And while it has reaped him a box-office bonanza, it is all sadly showing signs of age. You get the feeling you've seen and heard it all before and, for the most part, you have.
Myers, of course, pops up everywhere. As our hero Austin, as his nemesis Dr Evil. As Goldmember himself and as Fat Bastard. He gets all the good lines and eats up the scenery at every opportunity - but you somehow still find yourself more interested in the support cast.
Destiny's Child singer Beyonce Knowles, as Foxxy Cleopatra, shines as Powers' love interest. Michael Caine (below), as Austin's dad, adds his considerable weight to every scene he is in. Verne Troyer, as Mini-Me, and Seth Green, as Scott Evil, are others you want to hear more from. But it is Myers' vehicle, and he pays homage to himself at every turn.
