Techtronic Industries' chairman Horst Julius Pudwill promised in April that this financial year would be another record one for the power-tool manufacturer.
His promise was well on the way to being fulfilled yesterday, when the company reported a year-on-year surge of 77.8 per cent in net earnings in the six months to June 30.
Announcing the interim result, Mr Pudwill said: 'Extending the profit growth from last year, I am pleased to announce these spectacular results once again, despite the weak economic environment.'
The company, which produces and sells power tools and outdoor tools under brand names Ryobi and Homelite, saw net earnings rise 32 per cent to HK$238.84 million last year.
In this year's first half, net profit soared to HK$167.62 million from HK$94.3 million a year earlier, while turnover was up 71 per cent to HK$3.95 billion.
Nearly 80 per cent of turnover came from power and outdoor tool products, sales of which almost doubled from the same period last year.
