Tangy flavours: Heard of T'ang Court? Neither had Check In, but this Cantonese restaurant at the Great Eagle Hotel has just been included in Hotels magazine's annual list of Top 10 Hotel Restaurants worldwide. It stands in exalted company alongside restaurants in hallowed hostelries such as The Bellagio in Las Vegas, Gleneagles in Scotland and the Four Seasons Mexico City. To celebrate T'ang Court's inclusion, chef Kwong Wai-keung has created a six-course dinner featuring some of its finest (but not very politically correct) Cantonese creations, including chilled fresh abalone with jelly fish; braised shark's fin with shredded fish maw in shark's bone soup. The dinner costs $680 per person (8 Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Tel: 2375 1133; www.gehotel.com).

Survey surprises: To coincide with its 50th anniversary, Holiday Inn has commissioned a survey in the Asia-Pacific region to find out what matters most to guests when they choose a hotel room. Rather than a well-stocked minibar or a quality selection of in-house movies, it seems top of the list of priorities is a choice of pillows and bedding. Next up are fluffy towels and registration cards ready upon arrival.

Spa-cial treatment: The Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hawaii on Oahu, recently awarded 'Best Rooms in the United States' by Conde Nast Traveler, has converted five of its 550-sq ft rooms into individual 'Spa Suites' (above). Guests can now indulge in any of the hotel's myriad spa treatments in the privacy of their own space, which features an infinity edge jacuzzi bath, glass-encased shower, relaxation area, changing area and landscaped courtyard full of Hawaiian flora; non-guests pay an extra US$25 (HK$195).

Two signature treatments have been developed, embracing traditional Hawaiian therapies. Pi'ha Kino, for instance, is a two-and-a-half-hour fullbody treatment featuring a foot massage; a deep bath infused with aromatic oils; skin brushing and a spearmint/aloe exfoliation; a full body aromatherapy massage with Pohaku stones placed on the body's chakras; a facial cleanse; plus a scalp treatment (US$330). Krabi mood: Until October 31, Farrington is offering a range of four-day/three-night packages to Krabi, southern Thailand, mainly between $3,040 and $3,800 per person, although there is also a deal at the swanky Rayavadee Resort for $6,720 (rayavadee.com). Prices include round-trip economy flights on Thai International Airways, accommodation, daily breakfast, transfers and, in some resorts, a city tour.
