The Wagner Art Gallery showcases new paintings by Australian realist and modernist artists at The Rotunda today. Neil Taylor paints the beaches north of Sydney and the lush tones of the tropical-north coast of Noosa. John Earle captures the golden beaches of North Queensland. Paul Haggith presents a moment in his Balconies series, with the vibrant, urban street scenes of Barcelona. Peruvian-born and Australian-bred painter Ernesto Arrisueno realistically portrays bobbing boats and reflected water. Patrick Carroll finds his subject matter in the chasms of Sydney's Blue Mountains. Ken Johnson opts for the red earth of the Australian bush - and the muted dry tones of its arid landscape. Margaret Ackland paints lush still lifes, John Rigby captures the bold and exotic scenes of rainforests and palm-fringed beaches, while oil painter Celia Perceval's works are heavily textured. Geoff Dyer paints the King River of the west coast of Tasmania. Susan Sheridan, a regular exhibiter in Hong Kong, creates works that are exciting and chaotic in line, form and colour, and the New York-born William Boissevain offers oil paintings of the Western Australian landscape. Open Monday-Saturday 10am-7pm. The Rotunda, One Exchange Square, Central. Inquiries: 2521 7882. Ends August 26
