A former policeman appeared in court yesterday accused of kidnapping a four-year-old boy along with three other men and demanding a ransom of $15 million for him.
Leung Wai-hong, 33, is charged with abducting the child, Li Ho-lam, from a house in Fairview Park, Yuen Long, on November 5 last year.
He has also been accused of robbing the boy's mother Tang Chi-kwan of a Rolex watch and $6,800 in cash in the house, Tuen Mun Court heard.
Prosecutor William Wong said the boy's mother had received a phone call demanding a $15 million ransom shortly after the alleged abduction.
The prosecutor said the boy was found in Sheung Shui two days later and no ransom money was ever paid.
Mr Wong said Leung had been on the police's wanted list until last Saturday, when he surrendered to police, accompanied by his lawyer.
