Bank puts luxury homes up for tender

Two repossessed luxury houses, on the Peak and in Repulse Bay, are being sold via tender.

A three-storey home at La Hacienda in Mount Kellett Road on the Peak and a four-storey house at The Beachfront in Belleview Drive in Repulse Bay had been repossessed by the Bank of China (Hong Kong).

Landscope Surveyors manager Ken Kong said House 14 at La Hacienda had a gross floor area of 3,200 square feet or saleable area of 2,755 square feet. There were five bedrooms, two car-parking spaces and an open sea view to the south side of Hong Kong Island.

The house was repossessed after a loan default by the previous owner who had bought it for HK$65 million in June 1998.

Market sources confirm the owner was Keen Lloyd, an active property speculator and trader during the market boom.

La Hacienda has 21 houses, with facilities such as a swimming pool and tennis court. Since the start of the year three houses had been traded, Mr Kong said.

House 5 was sold in May for HK$27 million, an average price of HK$8,437 per square foot. House 7 went for HK$27.38 million in March and House 13, HK$25.3 million in January. The closing date of the tender is September 5.

Raymond Fung, a representative of Centaline Property Agency, sole agent for the tender of House 10 at The Beachfront, said the property had a house area of 3,047 square feet and a garden and backyard area of 1,252 square feet.

The house has a sea view over Repulse Bay.

The tender closes on September 13. Market sources said the house carried an asking price of about HK$24 million.
