Assume you are an alien journalist from a faraway galaxy and have been assigned to cover environmental issues on Earth, with special emphasis on pollution in Hong Kong. Sounds exciting?
This was the concept of a Web site designed by five students from Diocesan Girls' School. Lai Hiu-yeung, Wendy Choy Wei-pui, Eva Choy Wei-wah, Elaine Cheung Tin-yan and Rois Chan Lok-sze emerged as champions of the Web Site Design Competition of the Cyber Ambassador Awards.
'Pollution in Hong Kong is serious, everyone should assume responsibility for protecting our environment,' Hiu-yeung said.
All five girls are members of the school's computer club.
'We try to look for useful information on the Internet and exchange it through ICQ . . . but young people should remember to use the Internet properly and avoid obscene
or violent sites and material,' Wei-pui said.
Another highlight of the programme was the Project Proposal Competition. The champions were four Form Seven students from Ha Kwai Chung Government Secondary School - Arthur Tam Man-ching, Ho Wing-yu, Chan Yuen-ying and Wong Lai-yan.
