Itzhak Perlman

Master violinist Itzhak Perlman, one of the most prolific and versatile artists of modern times, will give a recital with pianist Rohan De Silva at the Cultural Centre next Wednesday. Perlman has 15 Grammy Awards (the most recent for The American Album with Seiji Ozawa and the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1996) and four Emmys, and is regularly lavished with prestigious awards. Hong Kong International Children's Choral Festival 2002

Five visiting choirs will perform folk songs, church music, children's songs and contemporary choral pieces over three nights from Sunday: the Children And Young Women's Chorus of the China National Symphony Orchestra, Russia's Radost Children's Choir, South Korea's St Nicholas Children's Choir, St Ursula Children's Choir of Villingen, Germany, and Thailand's Wattana Girls' Chorus. On the opening and closing nights, led by festival director, Dr Yip Wai-hong, the five choirs will join with 11 local children's choirs for a 300-strong performance. The Spivakov Young Russian Prodigies

Four Russian prodigies perform for one night only in aid of Po Leung Kuk, the local organisation that provides assistance to needy youngsters and is celebrating its 125th anniversary. The Spivakov Foundation was founded in 1994 to commemorate Vladmir Spivakov, one of the world's greatest violinists. The four prodigies, aged between 14 and 18, include the balalaika player Pavel Terebilenko, violinist Oleg Yatsyna, flautist Zarema Bekirova and pianist Stanislav Christenko.
