Chefs to cook up pass
IN THE depths of despair there is salvation, according to Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Harbour View general manager Gerhard Hecker.
Touched by our story last week about how the Governor's daughter Laura Patten had failed her London cookery course, Mr Hecker sent us an open letter offering the services of two of his leading chefs to complete her training.
''We were sorry to hear that you were unable to complete your full diploma from Leith's School of Food and Wine in London,'' it began.
''In an attempt to rectify the situation, Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Harbour View would like to invite you to complete your culinary training under the supervision of our very own master chefs.
''Our executive chef Fritz Gross and Belvedere chef Serge Burckel would only be too happy to pass on to you their knowledge of professional epicurian expertise.'' Mr Hecker reckons that a few months with the pair will give Laura the skills to pass the diploma with flying colours if she retakes it, and that he is waiting to tell the uniform department to design a chef's outfit for her.
We await her reply with interest.
