I REFER to the report, headlined ''My boss would wake me up by kicking me'' (Sunday Morning Post, July 11), written by Kavita Daswani. I resent the way some employers treat their servants. I extend my sympathy to all the Indian maids treated in the uncivilised manner described in the article. To have a boss brutally kicking a servant awake to do her daily job is simply inhuman and absurd. Working in an atmosphere like that would give the servant a negative view of herself, as well as lowering her spirits. Employers have no right to treat their servants like that - no person should fear being either mentally or physically abused. I don't see why Filipina servants should be treated any differently to Indian maids. My thoughts are that, in the sense of labour, maids/servants, regardless of race and nationality, should be paid and treated with the same fairness. So, employers who treat their maids unfairly should take a good look at themselves. NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
