Your correspondent 'Name and Address Supplied' complained about changing and shower facilities at the west end of Deep Water Bay and said they were 'spoiling the view' (South China Morning Post, August 1).
There are two blocks of shower and changing facilities, both providing a communal shower area, at the eastern and western ends of the Deep Water Bay beach. Since the west changing block had been in use for 20 years, we decided to refurbish the indoor and outdoor showers in two phases to enhance the quality of our existing service.
Phase one which was completed in early June included the provision of additional toilet facilities and indoor showers. Phase two which will start in September and should be completed sometime in the winter, will include the construction of an outdoor communal shower area and a sitting-out area.
In response to the request of your reader, we will keep the temporary outdoor shower area open until the new outdoor communal showers are completed.
Should your readers have any further inquiries, they can contact district leisure manager (Southern) C. M. Yeung, at 2555 6167.
