RIGHTLY OR WRONGLY, LAUNCHING a Web site has in the past few years moved from the No 1 spot of cool career choices to being considered a rather infra dig option for the ambitious professional.

But take the case of Mark Le Feuvre. He has 25 years' experience with multinationals in the fields of banking, insurance and consulting and was brought to Hong Kong five years ago to launch the regional business of a British health-insurance group.

These days, Mr Le Feuvre is managing director of a small company called The Bigger Picture. He spends his work days with a bunch of animated characters with fantastic names such as Gamellian, Technogreed and Hemaka. In the next few weeks, they will be launching their bilingual Web site www.earthxia.com, which aims to attract Hong Kong's young people with a mix of games, fun content and educational material.

Admittedly, there is more to the business. The fictitious Earthxia characters also have real-life personas - two of whom conjured up the idea of The Bigger Picture, an 'edutainment' company that aims to educate, entertain and empower young people. They have an office in Central and employ 18 full-time staff.

Besides the Web site, which will carry advertisements, the company envisions several lines of income-generating business. Its live entertainment division is already up and running, hosting children's parties, teenage discos and stage performances.

Running through all arms of the business are the Earthxia characters and their story - a classic good-versus-evil tale in which the Xia, a 12th dimensional race of highly developed beings who transcend time and space, try to stop the negative forces of Strodar from prevailing.
