BYD, China's largest rechargeable battery-maker, has posted an almost five-fold profit increase in its first interim result since its Hong Kong listing in July last year. For the six months ended June 30, its net profit surged to 256 million yuan (about HK$239.94 million) from 52 million yuan a year ago. Turnover was up 61 per cent to 950 million yuan.
