Hairdo deja vu

Crimper Kim 'Zelig' Robinson is back, reinventing himself all over again with an exclusive boutique salon at the heart of new Hong Kong.

Perfectly placed (between Prada and Chater House's new Armani megastore), tiny (just 1,000 square feet) and exquisitely expensive (hairdos from $3,000 a pop), the Kim Robinson Salon is sure to be swarming with his faithful when it opens in October.

'It's me getting back to what I love,' said Robinson (right), who despite being 47 years old has failed to age for a decade. 'I want to create beautiful hair for women of impeccable taste and style.'

Back in what he calls the 'opulent 1990s', Robinson was his generation's most talked about and influential hairdresser. He didn't just reflect the times. His hairdos, such as Anita Mui's impossibly massive fairy-tale coiffure, defined the teetering insanity of it all.

And his return confirms what SAR has long suspected: the new rich of the 1990s may have blown it on bad investments but the old family money is still sloshing around.
