Cutthroat Island

Morgan Adams (Geena Davis, above) receives a pirate ship and a third of a treasure map from her father - the latter inscribed on his scalp. Thinking herself in need of a Latin scholar to decipher the map, she buys learned slave William Shaw (Matthew Modine) and sets off in search of the other two pieces.

However, Shaw, with plans of his own, gets hold of the second part. He's somewhat easier to deal with, though, than the holder of the last piece - Morgan's cold-hearted and murderous uncle Dawg (Frank Langella). (1995)
