Hong Kong's radical sports fans will have a rare chance to see their favourite baggy shorts wearing, body-pierced idols in action when the ESPN X-Games recently held in Philadelphia are broadcast on television from tonight.

The X-Games, which finished two weeks ago, threw together the world's best BMX stunt riders, inline skaters (rollerbladers), skateboarders, wakeboarders and speed climbers for six days of full-on competition.

The event, in its eighth year, was held at venues around the northern United States city from August 14 to 19 with prize money totalling US$1 million (HK$7.79 million).

Top Japanese aggressive inline skater Takeshi Yasutoko produced some spectacular tricks in the half-pipe, huge airs and flatspins to win the gold medal in the men's vert event.

Takeshi's brother Eito, also a star of inline, came second in the same event with an array of moves which included a double backflip.
