For a complete change of pace, plan a night around tomorrow's Goldmember party at Club 97 (9 Lan Kwai Fong, tel: 2810 9333), which of course means hitting Hong Kong's most provocative, character-oozing and sexy nightspots.
What's for dinner?: Get into the mood for some international mystery with dinner at La Kasbah (17 Hollywood Road, 2525 9493). It's dark, sultry and harks to another world that's completely shagadelic. La Kasbah serves a wide range of North African food, so make like you've flown over to Casablanca in your own private jet. Starters range from $49-$95, but chef Mouhoub Madouni suggests ordering the restaurant's most popular dish, the Mezze platter for two ($110). For a main course, try the tagine of lamb, served with prunes and almonds with glazed carrots and potatoes ($152). Couscous brochette ($145) also comes as a recommendation as a main served with either lamb or chicken marinated and spiced with ginger and cumin.
The event: Get ready to put the 'grrr' into swinger, baby - especially since there's no cover charge at Club 97's Goldmember party. Dress up in your grooviest Austin Powers-inspired outfit because starting at 10pm, it will be time to throw back the drinks. Hostess for the evening, Foxxy Cleopatra, will cast her watchful eye over revellers while DJ 'Evil' Janva will pump up the crowd with tunes from the movie and incorporate his own groovy blend of music. Be sure to try the evening's signature Mojo Cocktail (suitably priced at $69). Club 97 promises to live up to 'rumours' about an appearance from a certain International Man Of Mystery - so make sure you don't miss this party, baby.
After hours: After completely misbehaving at the Goldmember party, perhaps you'd like to make like a rock star? Well then, move the groove as if it's that kind of night. Le Hibou (3 Lee Mun Street, tel: 2581 1887) is just off Hollywood Road past Graham Street and has a fountain of absinthe. Holding strong at 45 per cent alcohol, imported French brand Versinthe will knock your knee-high socks off. Expect to pay $60 per shot, but get ready for a long, strange night ahead if you do indulge. People make off with bottles of the stuff for $600. For serious converts, Le Hibou offers a package deal - $1,500 will get you two spoons and cups each, a decanter and a bottle of Versinthe.
