It has been reported that more than half the residents in Tseung Kwan O now use the MTR instead of buses. The MTR journey may be more expensive but who cares? These commuters no longer need to tolerate those insulting and monstrous TVs aboard the buses.
Each day bus passengers are being harassed by this on-board noise pollution. As a result, many of us suffer from headaches and nausea - symptoms of chronic anxiety.
The Transport Department and Ombudsman Office must have known very well that Regulation 13A subsection (1)(c)(ii) of Hong Kong Law Chapter 230A protects all bus passengers against 'injury, discomfort, annoyance or inconvenience'.
Our gratitude goes to the MTRC and KCRC for being our white knights. They understand the law and respect our right of personal choice. They are too noble to make profits from this kind of advertising at the expense of our mental and physical health.
I now look forward to welcoming the KCRC's West Rail and the proposed MTR Island South Line.
