Abridged logic to Zhuhai

Why you can trust SCMP

I really cannot figure out the logic. Hutchison Whampoa requested the government not to subsidise, in any form, the building of the bridge to Zhuhai and Macau via the logistics hub in Chek Lap Kok because it said that infrastructure should be viable as a private venture.

I do not dispute that, but why did not Hutchison Whampoa also object to the $23 billion Route 10, which is supposed to be funded purely by taxpayers' money? Is this not some form of subsidy for the Kwai Chung terminals?

Does not the same logic apply when the road happens to benefit them?
