Protesters lose appeal on rally

An appeal board has upheld the police decision to reject a pro-democracy group's attempt to protest outside the Beijing Liaison Office in Western. Thirty members of the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of the Patriotic Democratic Movement in China had planned to send mooncakes via the office to dissidents jailed on the mainland next Friday. The police said the action on a narrow pavement would cause inconvenience to the public.
