Richard Ivey Executive MBA (EMBA) students are exposed to a broad range of ideas and concepts in their course of studies.

Two courses, International Management and Business Strategy, help to develop a student's understanding of internationalisation and how it affects businesses, and challenges posed by globalisation and how to overcome them.

'International Management is about how firms become and remain international in scope,' says Paul Beamish, associate dean of research, and director of the Asian Management Institute at the Richard Ivey School of Business in Ontario.

This course looks at the experiences among firms of all sizes and countries as they grapple with an increasingly competitive global environment where a home-market perspective will no longer help sustain success.

'Through carefully selected comprehensive case studies and integrated text material, the course and book bridge both the internationalisation process and multinational management,' says Professor Beamish.

While many courses focus on ongoing management issues of multinational enterprises (MNEs), the Ivey course examines small and medium-sized firms as well. It also looks at the process of internationalisation and the challenges of ongoing management in multinationals.
