Railing against reply

Reading Time:1 minute
Why you can trust SCMP

If the system of responsible ministry and the advocacy for new thinking are anything more than mere hot air, I would urge the minister responsible for transportation to review the letter written by K. K. Wu for Commissioner for Transport headlined 'New pedestrian crossing point much safer' (Sunday Morning Post, September 1).

In conclusion, the letter stated: 'For safety reasons, we do not think it would be appropriate to remove the railings at the traffic island.' The department should realise that there are no, and has never been any, railings at the traffic island.

The letter reflects an ineffectively obstinate mindset. For public safety and convenience, how about returning the pedestrian crossing to its original location and place a stop sign for eastbound Robinson Road traffic at the Castle Road junction?
