After a month riding Hong Kong's oft-maligned trams to create just one photograph for his new exhibition, photographer William Furniss has learned a surprising fact: sometimes a tram is faster than the MTR.

'I often raced people on the MTR, and between North Point and Shau Kei Wan the tram always won,' he said.

Not that Furniss cares much for speed. His exhibition, Liquid Metropolis: Time, Light And Motion In The City, is full of pictures that took weeks to set up. And his month on the tram produced just one perfect image (above).

The exhibition opens tonight at 10 Chancery Lane Gallery and runs for a month - which, in the world of Furniss, is no time at all.
