Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra Silver Jubilee Concert
The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra is celebrating its 25th birthday this Mid-Autumn Festival weekend with a spectacular concert season opening show. Guest performers include the famed sopranos Barbara Fei and Ella Kiang, and Cantonese opera stars Law Kar-ying and Liza Wang. There is a piano solo by Liu Shih-kun and concert master Wong On-yuen performs Hua-Bang-Zi, a banhu solo that was played in the inaugural concert 25 years ago. A highlight will be the Silver Jubilee Medley, which shows film footage of the history of the orchestra and Hong Kong since 1977, as the orchestra plays a medley under the baton of music director Yan Hui-chang.
