Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra Silver Jubilee Concert

The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra is celebrating its 25th birthday this Mid-Autumn Festival weekend with a spectacular concert season opening show. Guest performers include the famed sopranos Barbara Fei and Ella Kiang, and Cantonese opera stars Law Kar-ying and Liza Wang. There is a piano solo by Liu Shih-kun and concert master Wong On-yuen performs Hua-Bang-Zi, a banhu solo that was played in the inaugural concert 25 years ago. A highlight will be the Silver Jubilee Medley, which shows film footage of the history of the orchestra and Hong Kong since 1977, as the orchestra plays a medley under the baton of music director Yan Hui-chang. Vanessa-Mae Live In Hong Kong

Heart Of Hanoi: Dao Hai Phong And Le Thanh Son

A group exhibition of two of Vietnam's most distinguished artists. Dao Hai Phong's stark, colourful landscapes are lit by brilliant reds, blues, greens, violets and purples. Liquid Metropolis

Fine art photographer William Furniss' second exhibition here showcases an array of urban images: extreme panoramas and oversized cityscapes which convey the motion and energy of such metropolises as New York, Paris, London and Hong Kong. In The Cupboard

Mariko Jesse has been commissioned by the MTR to create enormous images to permanently cover the walls of the Cheung Sha Wan station. The Eurasian artist, who studied at London's Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design, has recently been asked to return to work as a tutor. The Australian art gallery on Prince's Terrace throws a group show of eclectic works. Melbourne's 'gay icon' Gavin Brown paints vibrant portraits and captures scenes from his native neighbourhood of St Kilda. There are colourful collages by the eccentric Anthony Breslin ('If you crave a sense of clarity my world will seem like a bucksome calamity,' he warns), and the prints and etchings of Tasmanian Tony Woods, who was a contemporary of Andy Warhol in 1960s New York. Very Touching Art Exhibition

The Hong Kong Arts with the Disabled Association (HKADA) has been organising Very Touching workshops with many Hong Kong charities and this exhibition highlights the Ebenezer School for the Blind, the Hong Kong Society for the Blind, and Breeze Across Us, an organisation which promotes 'the integration of people with and without disabilities through artistic pursuits'. The exhibition includes sculpture, collage and drawing with an emphasis on the audience touching rather than just looking. Open 10am-9pm.
