M:Garden

Kung Chi-shing dissolves the boundaries between avant-garde, classical and pop music in M:Garden, calling on such collaborators as pop singers Jun Kung, Eman Lam and Anthony Wong, pianist Nancy Loo, experimental musician Hahn Rowe, percussionist Sam Bennett, actor Lee Chun-chow, dancer Yuri Ng and performer Julia Mok for musical theatre which fuses the spoken word, video imagery, theatrical experimentation and an original score. Strange Torso

Ren Zhang Piano Recital

Shanghai-born pianist Ren Zhang was first recognised as a major talent at his recital debut at New York's Carnegie Hall in 1996. Resident conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra Choi Ho-man has designed a series of family concerts that promises to take the intimidation factor out of classical concerts and appeal to a younger audience. Hong Kong Philharmonic's principal trombonist Jarod Vermette and bass trombonist Denson Paul Pollard play a programme that includes Mussorgsky's Night On Bald Mountain and Derek Bourgeois' Trombone Concerto. Para/Site Solo Shows

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council-supported Sheung Wan art space presents a joint solo exhibition of two European artists. In Nam June-paik Un-Plugged, British artist Clare Goodwin creates large cardboard sculptures with reference to the avant-garde TV installations of the celebrated Korean artist Nam June-paik. In Tracer, Swedish artist Cecilia Heisser investigates time, memory and death through text, photography and video. Wed-Sun 12pm-7pm. The Australian art gallery on Prince's Terrace throws a group show of eclectic works. Melbourne's 'gay icon' Gavin Brown paints vibrant portraits and captures scenes from his native neighbourhood of St Kilda. There are colourful collages by the eccentric Anthony Breslin ('If you crave a sense of clarity my world will seem like a bucksome calamity,' he warns), and the prints and etchings of Tasmanian Tony Woods, who was a contemporary of Andy Warhol in 1960s New York. Liquid Metropolis

Photographer William Furniss' second exhibition showcases an array of urban images: extreme panoramas and oversized cityscapes which convey the motion and energy of such metropolises as New York, Paris, London and Hong Kong. Ion Zupcu

Tao Design Gallery begins the first of several one-person, limited-edition photography shows this autumn with the work of Ion Zupcu.
