A MAN was yesterday sentenced to two years in jail after a court heard he stole credit cards and used them to buy $13,000 worth of luxury goods.
Wong Chun-hung, 24, pleaded guilty to three charges of theft, eight charges of obtaining property by deception and three charges of evasion of liability by deception before Deputy Judge O'Donnell in the District Court.
Wong stole two Chase Manhattan Bank Visa cards and one Diner's Club card from letter boxes in Kowloon City. He used them between May 10 and 13 this year to buy designer clothing and sessions in a sauna.
Defence counsel Lambert Lee said it was Wong's ultimate ambition to be a designer. He bought brand-name goods he admired.
Wong had returned the goods and was ready to pay compensation.
