Award-winning actress Josephine Siao Fong-fong will be given an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from the Open University of Hong Kong in recognition of her talents and contributions to society. The star, who began her acting career at age six and has appeared in more than 200 movies, will receive the degree at the university's 11th congregation on December 11. Three other people will receive honorary degrees - German scholar Professor Otto Peters (Doctor of Letters), and Hong Kong businessmen Fong Yun-wah (Doctor of Social Science) and Victor Fung Kwok-king (Doctor of Business Administration). Siao already has a bachelor's degree in mass communication and Asian studies, and a master's degree in child psychology. She worked as a counsellor and psychologist at Queen Mary Hospital, and in 1997 established the End Child Sexual Abuse Foundation aimed at protecting children.
