Excitement will reach fever pitch in Busan, South Korea as the 2002 Asian Games open on Sunday at the 80,000-seat Asiad stadium in the southern maritime city. The two-hour ceremony will feature a spectacular re-enactment of an ancient meeting of Korean kings in celebration of Asia's past and future. Five thousand people will take part in the historical opening, aimed at symbolising the unity and hopes of some 3.7 billion people in Asia. Cable TV, Channel 6 has live coverage from 4.30pm.
