It's crunch time for Hong Kong's rugby sevens team at the 2002 Busan Asian Games in South Korea. Today is the day they do battle with their preliminary stage, Pool A rivals. Their quest for a place in tomorrow's semi-finals begins at 12 pm (Hong Kong time) against Taiwan. Then it's China at 1.30 pm (HK time) and, if all goes well, by the time they meet 1998 silver medallists and tournament favourites Japan at 3.30 pm (HK time), they will have collected enough points to qualify and the result will not matter. The youngest SAR team member, Daniel Bailey, is optimistic and has faith in the team's ability to meet the challenge. 'We're focused and confident we can advance from our group,' said Bailey, the 2001 Co-ed School Sportsboy of the Year. Today's compact match schedule required the players to do continuous muscle stretching to prevent injury or fatigue, Bailey said. 'We'll do plenty of warm-ups and warm-downs, drink lots of water and keep stretching,' he said.
