Charles Godwin (Stephen Dillane) is an English landowner whose wife is in a coma following a riding accident. Desperate to be a father, he pays Swiss governess Elisabeth (Sophie Marceau, above with Dillane) to bear his child. She pays off her imprisoned father's debts with the money made, but she can't forget the daughter she has never seen, and after seven years tracks her down and arranges to be hired as her governess. Bloody Suckers

There is a startling array of creatures that have taken to feeding on blood as a crucial element of their lives, including some that bear a chilling resemblance to the vampires of Transylvanian folklore. Bloody Suckers is a film about an extraordinary dining decision. Although blood is vital, transporting oxygen and nutrients around the body, some creatures have gone a step further, becoming dependent on not only their own blood but also that of others.

An American Werewolf In London

Cinemax, 9pm

Two American walkers in the North of England make the mistake of straying from the path on to the moors, contrary to the advice of the patrons of the local pub, The Slaughtered Lamb, and are attacked by a large wolf-like creature. One is killed but the other, David Kessler (David Naughton), survives the attack. Kessler seems to be progressing in his recovery - until he receives an unsettling visit from his friend, who informs him that he has become one of the walking dead and that Kessler, on the night of the next full moon, will be transformed into a werewolf. The gore is offset by a good dose of comedy and some impressive transformation sequences. Also starring Jenny Agutter, Brian Glover and John Woodvine. (1981)
