Piano Trio Concerts

In the first show of the Academy for the Peforming Arts chamber music concert series, American-born violinist Ida Bieler, who became a member of Germany's renowned Melos Quartet in 1993, is joined by celebrated cellist Maria Kliegel and American pianist Nina Tichman. Tonight they play Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel and Mendelssohn. Tomorrow night features a programme of Beethoven, Smetana, Piazzolla and Tchaikovsky. Tonight-tomorrow, 7pm. Fou Ts'ong Trilogy

One of the greatest Chinese pianists of the 20th century, Fou Ts'ong comes to Hong Kong to perform a trilogy of concerts at the end of this month. Born in Shanghai in the 1930s, Ts'ong had by 1953 moved to Europe, where he met with critical acclaim from an astounded Warsaw Conservatory. The first recital, Alone With Chopin is on Oct 30 at the Cultural Centre. On Nov 17, the pianist performs with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta at City Hall for Centuries Of Excellence, which includes a world premiere of Victor Chan's Hymn For Tomorrow, and pieces by Copland, Mozart and Schumann. Love In A Fallen City

The 25th anniversary of the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre is celebrated with a reworking of Eileen Chang's famous novel of the love affair between Fan Liuyuan and Bai Liusu. Love In A Fallen City is music theatre conceived by artistic director Frederic Mao and Edward Lam. Chung Chi-wing composes the songs and Yuri Ng's choreographs one of the most anticipated shows of the New Vision Arts Festival. Performed in Cantonese with Chinese and English surtitles. Tien Dao

June Anderson

One of America's top sopranos performs next week as part of the Encore Series organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The Choir Of Westminster Abbey

A total of 30 choristers and 12 lay vicars from the choir of Westminster Abbey will be performing in the territory en route to the Macau International Music Festival later this month.
