A letter sent to the Central Government Offices sparked an anthrax scare yesterday after white powder seeped out while it was being handled by a clerk. She immediately informed her superior who contacted police. The letter, which was not addressed to anyone, was mailed to the middle block of the main wing of the offices in Lower Albert Road, Central, where Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa has his office. A police spokesman said: 'The report was made to us at 11.40am after the letter arrived at the mail office on the seventh floor of the building. We sent ballistic experts and we believe the powder is not suspicious.' Further tests will be carried out.
