He says he is sponsored by the United Nations to run around the world to promote world peace - except that he isn't actually sponsored, isn't actually running and the only thing he's promoting is himself. Meet Frenchman Sylvain Quenel. We did, but you can't, because his promotion of world peace in Hong Kong lasted precisely 12 hours and consisted mostly of shopping. Quenel popped in to see us in an effort to promote his 'eco-friendly world peace tour' in our decidedly non-eco-friendly city - and incidentally to promote his Web site, the address of which we are not going to give you. Why? Because Quenel is actually just travelling around the world like thousands of others and finally admitted his trip was being funded by 'friends' who logged on to his site. UN sponsorship, it transpires, is a photocopied letter on UN-headed notepaper saying they 'wished him well on his travels'. So what were his plans to promote world peace while in Hong Kong? 'Nothing, I only flew in this morning and I'm leaving tonight.' Flew? What happened to running? 'Well, actually I'm walking.' So where are you walking to next? 'Sydney.'
