HONGKONG Bank non-executive director Nigel Rich has resigned following the acquisition of a full banking licence by Jardine Fleming & Co, which he chairs. The bank said it accepted the resignation with regret and wanted to record its appreciation of his services. The bank said it had appointed two new non-executive directors, Fang Brothers Knitting managing director Kenneth Fang and Hong Kong Land managing director Alasdair Morrison. The appointments were made as part of the group's strategy of localising its boards. Mr Fang has been a member of the Government's Textile Advisory Board since 1979. He is also chairman of the Hong Kong Examinations Authority, Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corp Advisory Board and the board of governors of the Prince Philip Dental Hospital. Mr Morrison, who joined the Jardine Matheson Group in 1971, is a director of Hong Kong Land Holdings, Mandarin Oriental and the Royal Orchid Hotel (Thailand). He is also a member of the Law Reform Commission of Hong Kong, on the executive committee of the Real Estate Developers' Association and a council member of the Hong Kong Management Association.
