Security chief Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee's in-laws have launched a court battle over a 50,000 sq ft property left by her father-in-law.
Mrs Ip is not involved in the Court of First Instance trial, which started yesterday.
The lawsuit has been brought by Arnold Ip Tin-chee, a grandson of Mrs Ip's late father-in-law, Ip Ching-ping, who claims the property in Fei Ngo Shan Road had been passed on to him.
Mr Ip claims his grandfather passed the property to his father, Henry Ip Man-shan, who died in August 1988, as a gift, and it was then passed to him. The property had been registered under Mr Ip's name since May 1995.
But his three aunts, who were appointed as the executrices of Ip Ching-ping's estate, claim the property belongs to the family company Ching Hing Construction and it was never intended to be a gift for Henry Ip.
The court has been asked to decide the owner of the property, which is now worth about $100 million.
