Organisers said about 100 firms would take part in the two-day event at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. The job-seekers will be charged $10 each to attend and 1,000 jobs will be on offer.

Interest is expected to be high, with the jobless rate for the last quarter standing at 7.6 per cent, with 274,000 people out of work.

The chief executive officer of Go2Xpert, a business consultancy firm, Nelson Siu Nai-sun, said Hong Kong companies would comprise half of the exhibitors, with the remainder coming from the mainland, Macau and Taiwan.

The jobs on offer will be in industries such as banking, insurance, aviation and hotels.
