Homesick helper one of four killed in suicide leaps

Four people jumped to their deaths in a spate of suicides across Hong Kong yesterday.

Man Hok-wai, 23, was found outside Yuen Fu House, Tin Fu Court, Tin Shui Wai, shortly after 2.30am.

Police said the victim, who had complained about work problems, threw himself out of the window of his brother's home.

A 22-year-old man plunged to his death from the eighth-floor staircase of Hiu Lai Court car park in Hiu Kwong Street, Sau Mau Ping, at about 4.30am.

About an hour later, an apparently homesick Filipino domestic helper, 24, jumped to her death from the unit where she worked in Fu Heng Yuen, Chi Fu Fa Yuen, Pokfulam. She had arrived in Hong Kong early this month.

The fourth victim was a 44-year-old man who jumped from his unit in Ngau Tau Kok Lower Estate at about 11.30am.
