The bombing in Bali was the most serious terrorist attack since 9/11 and, once again, Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda group was suspected of being involved. Obviously, the terrorists' objective was to take revenge against American hegemony. In order to preserve peace internationally, I think the US as the 'world's policeman', should review its foreign policy. Its policies must be compatible with the interests of other nations. If it was to make significant changes, there might be fewer acts of terrorism aimed at US targets. However critical some of us may be of American policies, we must all condemn any acts of terrorism. CHRIS C. P. TSANG Hunghom. Events in Bali and elsewhere around the world suggest it may soon be too dangerous for Westerners to travel at all. If the day comes when we are made prisoners in our own countries, it will not only be al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups who we can blame, but also the governments in Washington and Tel Aviv. So long as there is oppression, there will inevitably be terrorism. If we truly want to deal with the latter, we must first end the former. QUENTIN POULSEN Jaen, Spain
