I find it most admirable that supermarkets and convenience stores have begun giving discounts to the elderly.
The public transport companies have been doing this for many years and I am sure it is appreciated by the old folk.
However, I am most perplexed by the fact that price reductions are offered to certain people who in my opinion do not warrant it. I refer to the practice of quite a number of bars and restaurants throughout Hong Kong, of giving discounts to airline crews.
There must be a logical reason for this, but I and my friends who are in the industry, are unable to understand it.
In the interest of fair play I think these establishments should offer similar discounts to members of the public who produce airline tickets. It is after all those people who pay the aircrews' salaries.
Perhaps someone from any of these places could explain this.
