Police believe they have smashed a burglary gang that has been active in recent months after arresting five alleged members in Wan Chai. Officers from New Territories South laid an ambush outside a shop in Wan Chai Road soon after midnight. Police allege they arrested four men as they were breaking into a porcelain shop at 1.35am. A taxi driver who police claim was acting as a lookout man for the gang was also arrested nearby. Tools including pliers, keys and a hydraulic jack were found on the suspects. The five, aged 32 to 44, were being questioned last night.
