ER Pearl, 8.30pm This is a second chance for ER fans to catch up on all the episodes they've missed over the years as TVB airs the first season, starting tonight with the first half of the medical drama's two-hour pilot originally shown in the United States in 1994. The emergency room of Chicago's County General teaching hospital is on alert when several victims are rushed in for treatment after a building collapses. After being extremely drunk on his day off, charming paediatrician Dr Douglas Ross (George Clooney, above) resumes his duties and confronts a mother whom he suspects of abusing her baby. Owing to staff shortages, Dr Peter Benton (Eriq La Salle), an intense and confident second-year surgical resident, must perform a major operation for which he may not be prepared. Inexperienced medical student John Carter (Noah Wyle) is forced to deal with several cases on his first day in the emergency room. And amid this chaos, Dr Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards), the married chief resident, receives a lucrative job offer from a prestigious private practice. He is forced to make a choice between remaining among colleagues and friends, or listening to his wife who wants him to take the new job so that he can spend more time with his family.
