We bring news of more overpaid DJ nightmares. Global Underground's Steve Lawler stormed off his Hong Kong-to-Sydney flight recently, claiming his business-class seat was not good enough.
According to a music industry source, Lawler, who earned $30,000 for spinning discs at Club Ing on the Sunday after National Day, told Qantas stewards he couldn't travel on a seat that did not fold out completely horizontally.
One expletive-laced phone call to Sydney later, Lawler's Australian promoter had a choice: upgrade the DJ's round-the-world ticket from business to first class at a cost of $20,000 or cancel a string of Australian shows. Six hours later, the DJ strolled into first class.
