It was with absolute dismay that I read of a list of proposals by the Democratic Party which included a suggestion for three years' maternity leave.
I would hate to be the first person in a dentist's chair after her three years' maternity leave, or to be seeking legal advice from a lawyer after her three years off. The list goes on and on. Even if one thinks of the rapid advances taking place in the workplace through technology how could a person catch up after three years out of the mainstream? The unfortunate simple fact is that after an absence of three years from the marketplace, a worker would not be capable of resuming her former job, in the vast majority of cases.
What will become of us if ever these people control our government and are able to actually implement their crazy plans?
