A group opposed to television on buses will launch a letter-writing campaign on Saturday to protest against noise pollution.
Lobby group Hush the Bus will distribute 15,000 form letters addressed to Secretary for Environment, Transport and Works Sarah Liao Sau-tung asking her for help.
The group's chairwoman, Catherine Ng Wah-hung, said the forms would be handed to bus passengers throughout the day. Those who wish to participate can sign the letter and post it to Dr Liao.
She said they would ask Dr Liao if headphones could be provided. 'We are also asking her to legislate against noise nuisance imposed by bus franchises on passengers,' Ms Ng said.
'This is a chance for passengers to have their say as millions are subjected daily to bus television against their will, many of whom have no alternative means of transport.'
Ms Ng said her group had noticed 'that passengers seem to be holding their own private form of protest on the buses'.
