Professor faces investigation
THE Hong Kong Medical Association will refer the Chinese University's Dean of Medicine to the Medical Council for investigation of his professional conduct.
Association spokesman Dr Lee Kin-hung said it would ask the Medical Council to investigate whether Professor Arthur Li Kwok-cheung had contravened the doctors' code of ethics in comments he allegedly made to Chinese-language Next magazine.
Professor Li allegedly said some doctors kept patients coming back for treatment for financial reasons.
The association took the decision on Thursday.
Professor Li said last night: ''The Chinese University has already been under attack by these people when our ENT [ear, nose and throat] surgeons were reported for advertising and the Council dismissed this.
''No-one has asked me if I said those things. I am not worried because my conscience is clear.''
