THE Hong Kong Medical Association will refer the Chinese University's Dean of Medicine to the Medical Council for investigation of his professional conduct. Association spokesman Dr Lee Kin-hung said it would ask the Medical Council to investigate whether Professor Arthur Li Kwok-cheung had contravened the doctors' code of ethics in comments he allegedly made to Chinese-language Next magazine. Professor Li allegedly said some doctors kept patients coming back for treatment for financial reasons. The association took the decision on Thursday. Professor Li said last night: ''The Chinese University has already been under attack by these people when our ENT [ear, nose and throat] surgeons were reported for advertising and the Council dismissed this. ''No-one has asked me if I said those things. I am not worried because my conscience is clear.''
