IT WAS AN honour to be invited to participate in last week's 'Dinner with Outstanding Citizens' under the topic - 'The Perfect Teacher-Student Relationship in my Eyes' with the Secretary for Education and Manpower, Professor Arthur Li Kwok-cheung.
A number of distinguished government officials and businessmen and 24 outstanding students from schools all over Hong Kong attended.
It was a splendid evening. I never imagined I would be able to talk with Professor Li, let alone ask him questions about Hong Kong's education system.
As a government official, many people might think he is a solemn character. However, he has a good sense of humour and is down to earth, so students were not afraid to talk to him on an informal level.
I was very impressed by the way the guests and students acted. Their comments were insightful and they spoke with confidence, which set a good example.
Ideas were exchanged between the guests and students, giving me valuable opportunities to broaden my horizons. The meeting has inspired me to become more outspoken and open-minded to new ideas.
