In his review of the DVD Monsters, Inc (Sunday Review, October 20) Tim Pratt mentioned that there was a two-disc collectors' edition of the film already available on DVD.
However, the second disc of the DVD supplements has no English or Cantonese navigation menus. They are only in Putonghua and Korean. The information on available languages is not on the packaging. Intercontinental Video seemed unconcerned about the problem. I then contacted Buena Vista Home Video (Disney) which referred me back to Intercontinental.
I am sure both companies know there is a problem, but they do not seem to care, as long as they make money. It is interesting to note that the newly released collectors' edition DVD of Disney's Beauty and the Beast has a small sticker which clearly states that the second disk of supplements is only in English and effectively warns consumers the information on the packaging is wrong.
As Andy Lau says in the TV commercial urging retailers and restaurateurs to be fair and polite to consumers, 'In this day and age, this kind of service is not good enough.'
