More than 1,000 job seekers flocked to a Cathay Pacific flight attendants' recruitment fair at the Academy for Performing Arts in Wan Chai. University students nearing graduation were also invited to pre-register so their applications could be processed quickly next year. Secretary for Economic Development and Labour Stephen Ip Shu-kwan, officiating at the event, urged people not to be pessimistic about the employment situation. Cathay said it would hire about 800 flight attendants next year to meet its expansion plans. More recruitment fairs would be held in the next few months.
